FROM MALAYSIA, OPEN TO THE WORLD · A LITTLE WISDOM, EVERY DAY
About this guide

A doorway to learning.
A connection to community.

buddhist.my is an independent guide to Buddhist resources and communities, with Malaysia at its heart.

Why this exists

A useful teaching, a welcoming community and a small act of kindness can make a difference in everyday life. This site helps people find a starting point, learn something meaningful and connect with opportunities to practise.

What is included—and what a listing means

This release contains 453 entries: 115 resource and network links and 338 association member listings. Some organisations appear in more than one context. These are not unique-organisation totals.

The member index contains 277 organisation names from YBAM’s published national member directory and 61 additional names from TBCM’s published member directory, after removing exact-name matches between those two lists. Similar names or alternate legal names can still refer to the same organisation.

Our aim is broad access across Malaysia and worldwide. This is a growing guide, not a claim to list every Buddhist website, organisation or location. Coverage is uneven and some communities have only social-media pages or no online presence.

Sources and review dates

Page checked means the destination returned relevant page content at review time. Web source checked means the page was checked through a web research tool when a direct automated request was blocked. Source listing checked and historical source listing identify names found on association pages. None of these labels verifies current operations, legal registration, safety, event availability or institutional endorsement.

Editorial approach

Descriptions are brief original summaries. Organisation names and regional groupings follow the identified sources. Personal phone numbers and individual contact details from membership lists are not republished here. Tradition labels are navigation aids; “Not specified” means the source did not establish a label for this entry. No ranking of traditions is intended.

Membership in a Buddhist association does not establish that an organisation is a registered NGO. The welfare category groups relevant service resources by their stated work. Kechara Soup Kitchen describes itself as non-religious and is included as a Buddhist-connected service resource.

The introductory lessons are original educational summaries, with linked sources. They have not been presented as a teacher’s endorsement or as a complete course in any tradition. More specialised practices should be learned in their proper context.

Help keep information useful

For an incorrect address, event, member record or contact, use the linked organisation or source directory to check and report the issue to its publisher. This static website does not receive submissions. The resource data is openly downloadable for checking and reuse subject to the original sources’ terms.

Fees and participation

Our lessons and directory are free to use. External websites set their own conditions. A linked centre may charge for a course or accommodation, and some magazines or publications have paid content. Check directly with the provider.
